In addition to building partnerships between schools, government, businesses and community organizations, the initial planning effort created a video in conjunction with Sedro-Woolley High School film students, a Skagit STEM website, calendar of STEM events throughout Skagit County, speaker’s bureau, and planning materials.

Cyberspace Teeters on Collapse

Fourth novel in thriller series has eerie ring of reality

ST. PAUL, AB, October 31, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — Unsettling questions about the roles organized crime, governments, and law enforcement covertly play in controlling the internet are raised in Eileen Schuh’s new thriller, OPERATION MAXTRACKER.

This fourth book in her ongoing BackTracker series is a fast-flowing follow-up to FIREWALLS, and continues the saga of young Katrina Buckhold’s fight against The Traz biker gang.

With uncanny references to actual news headlines, Schuh creates in readers a quiver of anticipation and dread, leaving them to wonder who controls the Web (in both the story and reality) and for what purposes? Also unsettling, is the incredible power wielded in secret by those trying to keep cyberspace and the nation safe.

Well known for her past portrayals of psychological drama, Schuh takes OPERATION MAXTRACKER to a new level as danger, cunning and espionage spill out of the virtual world into real life.

Schuh is also known for her surprising and satisfying endings and OPERATION MAXTRACKER definitely delivers on that count.

About the book

Sergeant Kindle is counting on his top secret Operation MaxTracker team to thwart a surging attempt by criminal gangs to hijack cyberspace and take control of the world.

The tremendous power of the defensive system the team is creating and the potential for its abuse, has computer guru, Katrina Buckhold, on edge. Shrug, Head of Project Security, is supposedly keeping everyone and everything safe, but based on her past experiences with him, she’s not confident he’s up to that task.

Katrina’s toughest battles, though, are not against those threatening cyberspace but against those who are concerned about her ability to raise her children, and Shrug’s not helping with that, either.

Then unspeakable tragedy strikes, stripping all friendships to the core and laying bare the stunning truths behind the secrets, fears and mistrust.

„I was inexorably drawn into this dark and claustrophobic world of coercion, mysterious antagonisms and deep mistrust.“ ~Gilli Allan, award-winning author of Fly or Fall

The novel includes Book Club discussion questions that explore the social, legal, and ethical issues touched on in the novel.

For those who can’t get enough of the BackTracker characters, Schuh advises that Sergeant Kindle’s law enforcement team plays a major role in her other recent thriller, SHADOW RIDERS.

In addition to the four novels in her ongoing BackTracker series, The Traz, Fatal Error, Firewalls and Operation MaxTracker (The Traz also comes in a school edition), Eileen Schuh is the author of the adult thriller, Shadow Riders and two adult SciFi novellas (Schrodinger’s Cat and Dispassionate Lies).

Born Eileen Fairbrother in Tofield, Alberta, Schuh now lives with her husband in the boreal forest near St. Paul in north eastern Alberta, Canada.

hipaapoliciesandprocedures.com Announces Comprehensive White Paper Publication on the HIPAA Security Rule Discussing Best Practices for Ensuring Full Compliance for Healthcare Entities

An informative white paper discussing the HIPAA Security Rule best practices for ensuring full compliance for Covered Entities and Business Associates.

DALLAS, TX, October 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — The HIPAA Security Rule, contained within Title II of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, consists of comprehensive mandates for ensuring the safety and security of Protected Health Information (PHI). More specifically, according to the Department of Health and Human Services (www.hhs.gov) the HIPAA Security Rule „…establishes national standards to protect individuals‘ electronic personal health information that is created, received, used, or maintained by a covered entity“.

HIPAA is here to stay – there’s no debating that – so it’s time healthcare organizations understood important facets of the most well-known aspect of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – the HIPAA Security Rule.

Here are the top 15 items covered in our Comprehensive HIPAA Security Rule White Paper:

1. Documentation, more specifically, HIPAA policies and procedures, are incredibly important for ensuring compliance.
2. Numerous initiatives have to be developed and put in place for helping ensure compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule.
3. A HIPAA Security Officer – and supporting staff – is a mandate – and a must-have – for ensuring continued compliance oversight.
4. Both the HIPAA Security Rule and Privacy Rule consist of dozens of „Standards“ and „Implementation Specifications“ – provisions require numerous policies and procedures to be in place for compliance.
5. The concept of „addressable“ versus „required“.
6. Various amendments, modifications, along with the passage of other legislative laws, have made the HIPAA Security Rule now more important than ever from a regulatory compliance perspective.
7. Business Associates now have much larger roles and responsibilities.
8. Increased cyber security threats and attacks demand a concerted effort by healthcare organizations for ensuring the safety and security of Protected Health Information (PHI).
9. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Civil Rights has announced an aggressive expansion of audits against the HIPAA Security Rule for both Covered Entities (CE) and Business Associates (BA).
10. Security awareness training and undertaking an annual risk assessment are two (2) very important components of the HIPAA Security Rule.
11. Heavy fines and penalties are being levied against Covered Entities (CE) and Business Associates (BA) for non-compliance.
12. The HIPAA Security Rule is now an important element in regards to many of today’s compliance audits and assessments, such as the SSAE 16 SOC 1 and AT 101 SOC 2 framework.
13. In today’s growing world of outsourcing, monitoring all relevant third-parties for ensuring the safety and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) is now more important than ever, and also a high priority for HIPAA compliance.
14. The HIPAA Security Rule is considered somewhat subjective and vague.

Flat Iron Technologies, LLC (FIT) is comprised of highly talented and experienced professionals with a true passion for helping businesses succeed in today’s growing world of regulatory compliance mandates. From Sarbanes-Oxley to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) – and the dozens of other regional and global laws, legislative requirements and industry specific demands – we’re a perfect FIT for helping your company prosper and thrive.

The Importance of Diversity in the Workplace is Discussed on „Informed“ with Rob Lowe, Developed for Public Television

An upcoming production of the educational program will look at organizations that are emphasizing workplace diversity.

MIAMI, FL, October 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — In an enlightening and captivating „Informed“ segment with host Rob Lowe, a team of corporate specialists will look at the importance of diversity in the workplace and how this has changed since the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission back in 1965.

Workplace diversity has grown increasingly important in the global workplace with the women and other minority groups being given an opportunity to play on a level ground. Access to a larger and more diverse talent pool is one of the greatest advantages for business owners. Additionally, teams working on expansive and intricate projects draw from their different experiences which can play a major role in understanding how new markets operate.

Workplace diversity also plays a pivotal role in reducing discrimination through the regular interactions of people who come from different ethnicities and backgrounds. Appreciating workers‘ cultures and traditions not only boosts teamwork but it also gives each worker a greater sense of belonging.

With the labor force demographics changing and international markets emerging, workplace diversity grows closer and closer to becoming a corporate necessity instead of a ploy that companies use to advertise their commitment to embracing diversity. Both employers and employees reap significant benefits from working in a conducive environment. Everyone can play a role in boosting workplace diversity by becoming more accommodating of each other’s cultural differences and seeing this as a unifying factor rather than a divisionary one.

„Informed“ is independently produced and distributed to Public Television and PBS Member stations. It’s anchored by a team of industry professionals who develop award-winning content on a myriad of subjects. The program is hosted by famed actor Rob Lowe.

CradleNest Inc. Announces the Launch of the Safari Baby SleepWear Collection

African safari themed, baby sleeping blankets and swaddles, designed in South Africa and handmade in Peru, from 100% Peruvian Pima cotton.

BRYANSTON, SOUTH AFRICA, October 30, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — CradleNest Inc. is excited to announce the launch of our Safari Baby SleepWear Collection, a baby apparel collection of sleeping blankets and wrapping swaddles, handmade from 100% Peruvian Pima cotton, considered the best cotton fabric in the world. This unique blend of Peruvian artistry and the bright, wild and colorful motifs of the wild Serengeti valley used as a backdrop, will forever change the way parents approach stocking up on baby sleepwear apparel.

CradleNest Inc. believes our Safari Baby SleepWear Collection will set a new standard as it relates quality and affordability. As parents of a newborn ourselves, this collection was born more out of necessity than a business need.

After a futile search for quality sleeping blankets and wrapping swaddles, (too expensive or of very low quality) we returned to my native Peru to select the best 100% Pima cotton fabrics (considered the best in the world) from which we created these mostly handmade pieces, using the services of local artisans and tailors in Lima, Peru.

Using the Serengeti as a backdrop, we created the collection based on the Africa Safari with the double-sided prints of animal motifs and textures from this great destination. The crochet line for instance, boasts of hand knitted crochet hems that according to Jane Opal, a local fashion critic, „would move any mother to instinctively want to cradle their baby in it“.

The collection is broken down into a winter, summer, crochet blankets (large sized – 35 x 31 inches), and a one-sized swaddle line of sleepwear apparels. The hope is that the delicacy of the fabrics, affordability, coupled with the deep artistry displayed by the Peruvian craftsmen and women who helped bring these ideas to life, will become a mainstay in every parent’s shopping considerations.

Being a socially responsible business, CradleNest Inc. teamed up with INABIF, a Peruvian government sponsored initiative that caters for vulnerable women and children, to create the 1-4-1 School Outreach Trust, which simply means that for every 1 item sold on on our website, we will donate 1 complete Back-To-School kit to the children under their care in Peru. We hope to continue the 1-4-1 School Outreach in other locations.

Women of Distinction Magazine Selects Judith „Judy“ Welch as a Distinguished Professional in Her Field

Judith „Judy“ Welch will soon be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction and Top 2016 Edition.

MANASSAS, VA, October 29, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ — Judith „Judy“ Welch, National Security Policy Analyst, has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in her field through Women of Distinction Magazine. Judith „Judy“ Welch will soon be featured in an upcoming edition of Women of Distinction and Top 2016 Edition.

Born in Pittsburgh and raised on a farm in western Pennsylvania, Judith „Judy“ Welch went on to graduate second in her class and write the alma mater from Evans City High School before turning down an opportunity to attend Chatham College for Women on a full scholarship to instead accept a job with the Navy Department at the Pentagon. Forty-one years later, in 2000, Welch finally retired from her career with the Federal Government, only to begin a new venture at the WJLA-TV newsroom, the ABC affiliate station in Washington, DC, and News Channel 8, WJLA’s co-located sister station, reporting around-the-clock local news. Spending four glorious years in the newsroom, she was then picked up as a Contractor supporting the Intelligence Community (IC).

„I’ve been blessed with so many wonderful career opportunities, by both serving my country as a civilian and as a contractor in an effort to help make a difference in our country’s national security,“ Welch said.

Welch’s time as a Contractor ended in 2013 after being laid off. In her role, she served as a Technical Writer, Security Policy Analyst, and Classification Specialist, evaluating and developing IC policy in the Director of National Intelligence Special Security Center, assessing program plans and reporting on program statuses while assigned to a Central Intelligence Agency project office, and serving as an SAIC Team Lead assigned to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency office responsible for implementing and overseeing the execution of the new Sensitive Compartmented Information Geospatial Intelligence control system across the newly-designated National System for Geospatial Intelligence.

During Welch’s four-decade-long career with the Federal Government, she held numerous administrative roles for senior military and civilian officials in the Pentagon, quickly advancing through the ranks. She served as a Staff Officer/Deputy Executive Secretary to the Director of Volunteers in Service to America, aka VISTA, in the Executive Office of the President. VISTA was, at that time, considered to be the domestic version of the Peace Corps. She also volunteered for an oversees assignment as Executive Secretary to the US Military Representative in the US Delegation at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, was promoted two years later to Deputy Director of Administration at Nahbollenbach Army Deport in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, and was promoted yet again one year later to serve as Director of Administration at Kaiserslautern Army Depot Complex. Soon after, Welch became the voice of the Depot Complex as she began delivering news spots over the American Forces Network-Europe. By 1974 she had returned to the US and was assigned to work at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey as a Program Analyst before relocating to Alexandria, Virginia to work for the Army Materiel Command Inspector General. Finally, in 1987, Welch was promoted to Senior GAO Report Analyst/Staff Officer in the Office of the Department of Defense GI, which she held for the remaining 13 years of her career.

Notably, Welch attended college at night pursing a BS in Social Psychology, graduated from the Defense Systems Management College and Department of the Army IG School, and attended the Naval Postgraduate School, National Defense University and Brookings Institution.
